Ajax – PSG

Ajax will try to post a better showing in Europe than in the last couple of seasons, when they were less than impressive and even a laughingstock at some points (see 0-3 and 1-3 vs. Salzburg last year in Europa League). Ibrahimovic will return to Amserdam Arena as an opponent and for sure will get a great welcome from Ajax fans.

The Dutch champions did not have the best start of the year … losing 2 of the 5 games in Eredivisie and finding themselves on 5th place. With poor performances in Champions League and Europa League last years, and the current form, Ajax for sure will not be too thrilled with the visit of PSG. Ajax received 8 goals in 5 matches in Holland which is a disaster for a team of this caliber in a mediocre league. The good news for Ajax is that they have a full squad available except Fischer who is injured and will not feature.

PSG had some hiccups in the start of the season … from 6 official matches they won 2 and drawn 3. Offense is working good but there were some defensive issues for PSG in these couple of matches. The French champions will look to pick up where they left off last year in Champions League, where they shown great football and posted win after win and often with many goals scored. Thiago Silva and Rabiot are out for PSG, Luiz and Aurier are question marks.

Ajax, and all Dutch teams for that matter, have been very poor in Europe recently. The Dutch league obviously lost a lot of quality and considering PSG is a team that proved they go for the win in every european game … it does not look well for Ajax today. Also Ajax`s hesitant defense will be put to a big test by PSG’s fantastic attacking ability. PSG did not get the absolute best results in the last few weeks but they played pretty good football and in Champions League they are always a level above … so this looks like a clear away win for me and my tip will be PSG to win with -1 asian handicap. Can`t see Ajax stopping Ibrahimovic, Cavani and Moura tonight. The french team is well known for covering big handicaps and Ajax does not play good football at the moment, so at this odds the risk is worth the bet … especially since at a 1 goal win we will not lose the bet, only money back.
