Belgian champions Anderlecht will face the unwanted task of hosting PSG in the third round of the Champions League group stages.
Anderlecht have made a fool of themselves so far in this group, losing both matches 0-3 at the hands of Bayern (away) and Celtic (home). It has been a rocky campaign domestically as well, as Anderlecht started poorly and didn`t impress lately either – even if results improved. The hosts won their last 4 games in Belgium, but all of them were hard fought one goal victories. Anderlecht changed the manager two weeks ago, and coach Vanhaezebrouck made his debut this weekend in a 4-3 win over Mechelen.
PSG is coming after a last minute win at Dijon on Saturday, but the visitors played without 4-5 key players in that game. PSG has been pumping on all cylinders this season, regularly beating teams by 3 or more goals, both home and away. In this Champions League Group B, PSG defeated Celtic 5-0 in Scotland and Bayern 3-0 at home.

Spajic and Najar will miss out for Anderlecht. PSG will be without Pastore, while Kurzawa, Cavani, Thiago Silva and Verratti are doubtful. However, all 4 are expected to start (they have all been cleared to train yesterday).

Anderlecht has been dirt poor so far in this group, and quite frankly they have no business being in this competition. What`s worse, they are not even playing to the best of their abilities this season. Poor form and poor quality make a terrible mix when you are taking on teams like PSG in the Champions League.
There`s also the fact that Anderlecht is not a team which can properly park the bus and defend in numbers, that is not their DNA, and that creates a horrible matchup for them against PSG. The hosts allowed 3 goals from Mechelen over the weekend, and Celtic scored 3 goals in Belgium in the previous Champions League match. Teams like Sint Truidense and Lokeren scored 2 or 3 goals this season on Anderlecht`s ground. A team with PSG’s offensive abilities could have a field day here.
I doubt the new manager can have much of an impact for Anderlecht given the opponent they are facing, and I wouldn`t be surprised if this ends up getting ugly.
Home court advantage is also diluted by the fact that this has been a very short and easy travel from Paris to Bruxelles for the visitors.
I reckon Anderlecht’s shaky defense makes a bet on PSG to cover the handicap a good investment, as the visitors should be able to bang in 3 or more goals here. My tip is PSG to win with a -2 asian handicap. Prediction: Anderlecht – PSG 0-4.
