CFR Cluj is taking on Concordia Chiajna in an intermediary round of the Romania Liga 1.
CFR went trough very tough moments at the start of the year, being penalized with 24 points and thus switching from the 2nd place in Liga 1 to the last spot. They lost some players and lost some matches, but right now it’s pretty obvious that they re found their groove. CFR lost just one time in the last 5 matches (an undeserved and unlucky defeat to rivals “U”) and is coming after two excellent performances, 2-2 at home against title contenders Targu Mures and a 1-1 draw at Dinamo over the weekend. CFR probably deserved to win that match, as they were the constant aggressor, even after being reduced to 10 men around the 75th minute. Morale is much better due to recent results and there is real hope that they will eventually get the 24 points back. Meantime, CFR will leave the last place if they win this.

Concordia is playing very poorly since old coach Sumudica resigned and now inexperienced manager Baciu seems to guide the visitors straight to the second division. Chiajna still has 2 points over the relegation zone, but the way they are playing, salvation looks rather unlikely. Concordia won just 1 of the last 6 matches (2 draws, 3 losses) and in the last two away games they lost 1-0 and 3-0 against mediocre teams like Rapid or Botosani.
Team news: Key midfielder Deac will be suspended for CFR, but otherwise the two teams should line up in a similar manner to how they did last round.
CFR is the better team, playing better football. The hosts don’t want to sit on the last place too much and with their current form they will feel confident that they can win this game against an out of shape opponent.
