Chelsea – Leicester

Chelsea Leicester betting tips

Chelsea will host Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in the 23rd round of the Premier League.

Chelsea is on the back of a 0-0 home draw against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, a rather disappointing result considering the fact that Arsenal was missing many players. Nevertheless, Chelsea is having a good season and is in good form, losing just once in the last 17 matches in all competitions. The Blues also posted 7 consecutive home wins in the Premier League.

Leicester City hasn`t been playing very well lately, winning only one of their last 7 games in all competitions. While it`s true that the Foxes had a difficult schedule, they could have done better. Last time out Leicester was held to a 0-0 draw by minnows Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup, with Leicester playing a horrible game – which was inexcusable even if many key players were missing.

Team news & lineups:

Chelsea has a full squad available with the exception of new signing Barkley (doubtful). Leicester on the other hand has real problems, as they might be without their entire regular back four. Simpson, Huth and Morgan are definitely out, while Fuchs is slightly doubtful. Vardy, Silva and Iborra are also questionable.

Chelsea: Courtois – Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill – Moses, Fabregas, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso – Hazard, Morata

Leicester City: Schmeichel – Amartey, Benalouane, Maguire, Fuchs – Mahrez, Ndidi, Iborra, Albrighton – Okazaki, Vardy

Considering Leicester’s form and particularly their problems at the back, Chelsea looks likely to win this game and score a few goals in the process. The Blues went scoreless in their last two outings (both Cup games), but they have been scoring for fun recently in the Premier League, and you would expect them to find the net two or three times against a makeshift Leicester back 4.

Leicester on the other hand will rely on their renown counterattacks, and they should be able to create a few chances themselves, as this is the kind of match in which Mahrez, Okazaki and Vardy (if he plays) can excel. Leicester has been one of the most goal friendly sides in the Premier League this season, an average of exactly 3 goals per game being scored in their matches.

Earlier this season Chelsea won 2-1 at King Power Stadium.

I can see both teams to score here, but Chelsea claiming a big win like 3-0 is a possibility if Leicester has a bad day. As such, I will go with the over 2.5 bet, even if odds are much lower.

My tip is over 2.5 goals to be scored. I would trust this bet enough to stake 8 units or so on it, but to be honest I feel the odds could be a bit better, so I will “only” invest 7 units. Prediction: Chelsea – Leicester City 3-1.

Pick: over 2,5 goals
Odds: 1.59 @ Jetbull
Stake: 7
Possible profit: 4.13
Event date: 13 January
