Dinamo – Chiajna

Valentin Lazar Dinamo goal

Dinamo Bucharest and Concordia Chiajna will square off at Dinamo stadium in the 10th round of the Romanian Liga 1.

Dinamo is in decent form right now, not playing anything special but at the same time getting some reasonable results. The last two rounds were solid, with a 3-1 home win against CSMS Iasi and a 1-1 draw on the road against a strong Viitorul team a few days ago. As expected after Ioan Andone took over in the summer, Dinamo’s matches have been characterized by goals – with 9 of the 10 games played this season by Dinamo seeing both teams scoring.

Chiajna is having a poor start to the season, losing 5 out of 9 matches and sitting on the 12th spot in the standings (out of 14). Offensively the visitors have been absolutely dreadful, scoring only 4 times in 9 games, by far the worst attack in Liga 1. Defense has not worked much better either with 12 goals allowed in 9 rounds. Chiajna lost 0-2 at home against Botosani last round, so the visitors really need to start picking up points.

Team news & lineups:

Dinamo has a full squad available with the exception of main striker Gnohere, exiled to the second team. Chiajna is also free of injuries or suspensions.

Dinamo Bucharest: Branescu – Romera, Nedelcearu, Maric, Filip – Nistor, Busuladzic, Palic – Rotariu, Popa, Lazar

Concordia Chiajna: Balgradean – Barboianu, Koenders, Tincu, Bucurica – Gradinaru, Costin, Cristescu, Rosu – Constantinescu, Pena

My bet here will be on goals. Our usual readers probably know the drill by now with me and Dinamo Bucharest, but I have to repeat myself for new readers, though if I keep this up Google might penalize me for duplicate content :).

I said it over and over this season (even before it started), Dinamo’s new manager, Ioan Andone, is very prone to overs. He does not know how to organize a defense and on top of it all he has some dreadful individual defenders in the team, so there`s really no chance for Dinamo to defend properly this season.

So far results back up the above idea. Dinamo has 6 overs in 10 games (average odds higher than evens) and 9 of the 10 games Dinamo played saw both teams scoring. The opposition and the venue did not matter, Dinamo let everybody create a lot of chances against them, but was also dangerous up front – having quality offensive players.

I think Chiajna, even with the worst offense in the league, can still score at Dinamo stadium, as every team did this season. Dinamo allowed 3 goals from the worst two teams in the league, Targu Mures and Poli, teams on the brink of exctinction, nowhere close to having Liga 1 quality. As such, I don`t see why they should keep a clean sheet against Chiajna. But even if they do, a bet on over 2,5 goals would still have a safety net – on a good day, Dinamo can definitely put 3 goals past Chiajna.

The two teams have been involved in high scoring matches recently, with the last 5 direct meetings reading scores like 1-1, 3-0, 4-0, 3-1 and 3-0.

My tip is over 2,5 goals. I have to say I am a bit disappointed by the odds, it`s probably the first time this season when I can’t say there’s much value on the over in a Dinamo match. Bookies are starting to catch up, but the price is definitely fair and playable. Dinamo to win and over 2,5 goals might hold a bit more value, but I don’t trust Dinamo enough to pick that bet. Prediction: Dinamo Bucharest – Concordia Chiajna 3-1.
