Two all rounders with good grass court capabilities, Grigor Dimitrov and Richard Gasquet, will square off in an anticipated Wimbledon third round.
Dimitrov had a poor season for his standards, especially considering that he was supposed to emerge as a real contender in 2015. The Bulgarian played two matches on grass prior to Wimbledon, defeating Querrey 2-1 and losing to Gilles Muller. He did win both his matches in straight sets so far (Delbonis, Johnson), but I have to say that he was not great in the 2nd round against Johnson, getting lucky to win the 1st set and having issues against an opponent in poor form.
Gasquet had a pretty good season so far, posting a 21-8 win-loss record and winning two titles. Nothing out of the ordinary, but solid. The Frenchman didn’t do much in the grass court season, losing to Raonic in the second round at Queens. He also competed at the Boodles exhibition in order to get more match practice on the surface. It seems to have worked, as Richard was brilliant in the first two rounds here at SW19, losing a total of 13 games in two matches against Saville and De Schepper. Granted, Grigor Dimitrov will be a totally different caliber of opposition than what Gasquet faced so far.

Gasquet leads the Head 2 Head 4-0 and seems to have a matchup advantage over Dimitrov. However, the pair never met on grass and more importantly the last match was in 2013, so one can argue that Dimitrov is a different player now.
Anybody who watched Dimitrov this season and even at Wimbledon can attest to the fact that he is not at his best and he is looking vulnerable. The Bulgarian had a decent Wimbledon thus far but he is still not finding his optimal level of tennis. Looking at how Gasquet is playing this week, he might well be able to take advantage.
My tip is Gasquet to win. The odds are dropping and this is not surprising, especially considering the unreasonably low price given to Dimitrov. The Frenchman is in better form, he played better tennis this week, he has the Head 2 Head advantage and can match Dimitrov in quality on any day. No reason for Richard to not grab a win here and the value is obviously on his side. Prediction: Grigor Dimitrov – Richard Gasquet 4-6 6-3 6-7 3-6.
