Grizzlies – Trailblazers

Grizzlies Blazers handicapping

The Memphis Grizzlies will host the Portland Trailblazers on Tuesday night in the NBA.

The Grizzlies (25-40, 15-17 home) have nothing left to fight for this season and are in official tanking mode since trading away Marc Gasol at the deadline a couple of weeks ago. The Grizzlies are 3-7 since trading Gasol, and they are not a good team right now. That being said, they remain a feisty and resilient bunch, and their young pieces have played pretty decent lately, with the Grizz winning 2 of their last 4 games.

The Blazers (39-24, 15-16 away) are one of the hottest teams in the league at the moment, winning 6 out of 7 games despite a difficult schedule, with the only loss coming by just two points in Canada against the strong Raptors. Last time out, the Blazers took care of business in Charlotte on Sunday night, winning that one by 10 points.

Team news:

The Grizzlies will be without star rookie Jaren Jackson Jr for the 6th straight game. Anderson and Brooks are still out. Rabb is questionable, while Conley is dealing with some soreness, but will play.

The Blazers will get back Evan Turner for this game, and will have a full roster available.

Memphis isn`t playing that bad right now, they have been half decent in the last week and they always put up a fight. However, they do have one of the weaker rosters in the league right now, and facing a team like the Blazers might be too much for them.

Portland is pumping on all cylinders at the moment, much like they did last year. They are the kind of team which is built for the regular season, and they are fully focused right now in a very strong and evenly matched Western Conference. They are currently tied with OKC for the 3rd seed, but a few losses could see them lose home court advantage in the playoffs, so every game counts a lot.

An in form, healthy and motivated Portland side should not be prone to an upset against this Memphis team, which is also a little big banged up with injuries.

All things taken into account, my tip here will be Portland to win and cover the 5.5 point handicap. I love the way the Blazers are playing right now, so I am rolling with them. Prediction: Memphis Grizzlies – Portland Trailblazers 100 – 114.
