FC Nantes is undefeated for 10 matches in a row and sits at the moment on the 4th place in the standings … a great start to the league for Nantes. They are not a very strong team on paper and don’t play entertaining football, but very resilient and have the best defense in Ligue 1 … very hard team to beat. But it also has to be said they did not have a very hard schedule: the only Top 6 teams from which they took points were St Etienne last round, 0-0 at home and Lyon, also at home. For today Nantes has Djidji questionable.
My tip will be a simple Marseille win. I like Marseille this year a lot, much better prepared and much more consistent under Bielsa … for the first time in years they are trustworthy and play at the same level of football week in week out. Nantes is not a bad team at all but have their limits and did not play strong teams away from home so far. I think Marseille will be too much for Nantes and will get a close win … also boosted by all the players coming back from injury and by the opportunity to keep the 1st place for another week at least.
