Suns – Magic

The surprising Orlando Magic will look to continue their good run when they square off against the struggling Suns in Phoenix.

The Suns (4-8, 2-4 home) started the season with three horrible losses, then had to get rid of their best player Eric Bledsoe, who requested a trade. At that point it seemed like the Suns, who were already one of the NBA’s worst teams, won`t win a game anytime soon – but they surprised everybody with 4 wins in their next 5 matches. However, the Suns soon returned to their usual selves and they have now lost 4 games in a row against mediocre opposition, never having a chance in any of them.

Orlando (7-4, 3-2 home) has been arguably the most pleasant surprise so far in the league. Not rated as a playoff contender, the Magic played very fluent and good basketball to win 7 out of their 11 games. The visitors are on the back of a 13 point win against the New York Knicks, after previously losing to Boston and to Chicago (when they missed both of their point guards).

Team news: Phoenix has serious injury problems, as they continue to miss Knight, Reed and Williams, while new signing Monroe is also out. What`s worse Tyson Chandler is a big doubt, so the Suns could be without two of their three centers. DJ Augustin continues to miss out for Orlando, but the Magic now have first choice point guard Payton back.

This Orlando team seems very well set up under coach Frank Vogel and their record is not a fluke. Players like Fournier, Gordon and Vucevic have elevated their level to new heights this season, so their emergence along with the good coaching are the main reasons for which Orlando is looking like a legitimate playoff team.

Phoenix has played very poorly lately, they certainly lack talent and their woes should continue given the problematic injury list they have.

If Chandler doesn`t play, Phoenix will have big problems stopping Vucevic in the paint, they will have to double up on him and leave themselves exposed on the perimeter. Even with Chandler, you have to feel that Phoenix won`t have enough, but he is highly expected to miss the game. I reckon Orlando has the quality, the form and the matchup needed to take home a win from this game.
