Sevilla – Betis

FC Sevilla will play host to rivals Real Betis in what should be a very interesting Primera Division derby clash.

Sevilla is looking solid this season under Sampaoli. The hosts have 2 wins, 2 draws and zero losses in La Liga and also snatched a 0-0 draw last week in Torino, against Juventus. One of the reasons for which Sevilla is performing at a high level is that Vietto has managed to properly replace Gameiro up front, scoring 3 times in 3 matches in Primera Division. As usual, Sevilla has been particularly strong at home, winning both games at their own stadium this season in La Liga.

Betis has 1 win, 2 draws and 1 loss this season, but those stats are a bit misleading and I was far from impressed with the visitors so far. Two home draws against Deportivo and Granada are not exactly great results. Betis also lost 2-6 at Barcelona. They beat Valencia 3-2 two rounds ago and that was a good win, but even that doesn`t seem so impressive when you consider the fact that Valencia is on the last place with 4 defeats in 4 matches.

Team news & lineups:

Krohn-Dehli, Rami, Tremoulinas, Carrico and Soria are out for Sevilla, while Nasri is questionable. As for Betis, they will miss Gimenez and Martin.

FC Sevilla: Rico – Mariano, Pareja, Kolodziejczak, Escudero – Correa, N’Zonzi, Vazquez – Vitolo, Vietto, Kiyotake

Betis Sevilla: Adan – Piccini, Pezzella, Mandi, Durmisi – Petros, Brasanac, Ruiz – Castro, Verdu, Joaquin

There`s no question that Sevilla is the better team here, they are in good form and have gotten the better of Betis recently. The visitors are not looking good right now and could have been in the relegation zone if they had a tougher schedule to begin with. They allowed 10 goals in 4 matches and that could be a problem against a very capable Sevilla front line.

At home, I don`t believe Sevilla can miss the three points. They won both home league matches this season and we know how strong they are at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. The incredible run they had last season is still fresh in mind, when Sevilla managed to win 17 (!!) consecutive home games in all competitions.

Simple bet for me here – my tip will be Sevilla to win. Obviously the odds are not very high, but they are good enough for me and I see no point in taking additional risks with handicaps. A price of 1.50 is definitely playable on a singles coupon.

In theory the derby factor increases the risk on this bet, but that doesn`t seem the case when you look at the fact that Sevilla won 5 out of the last 6 meetings, all by 2 or more goals (including all three in 2016). Prediction: FC Sevilla – Real Betis 2-1.
