Halep – Williams

Simona Halep Serena Williams tennis odds tipsSimona Halep and Serena Williams will square off in the Singapore World Tour final, it will be the second H2H meeting this week after Halep shocked the tennis world with a 6-0 6-2 win in the group stage. Ironically, Halep was the one that handed Serena qualification to the semis when she took a set from Ana Ivanovic in the last match in the group, which was meaningless for the Romanian.

Halep had a massive breakthrough year in 2014, reaching number 2 in the World and playing her first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros, challenging and beating the big guns regularly this season. She did not play her best tennis after Wimbledon, but this week Simona put on a clinic, raising her level and playing arguably the best tennis of her life. She demolished Bouchard, Serena Williams + Radwanska in the semifinals (6-2 6-2) and she only lost to Ivanovic in a match where she had no motivation. Helep is moving and defending as good as she has ever done, but this week she also added an improved first serve to her repertoire.

Bet on Simona Halep vs. Serena Williams with the best tennis odds offered by Pinnacle.

It has been a realy shaky tournament for Serena Williams. She played good tennis against Bouchard and Ivanovic (though not at her best), she was destroyed by Halep and went on to win over Wozniaki in the semifinals, but only in a third set tiebreak, barely escaping a loss. That match was a rollercoaster, with Serena alternating her best tennis with horrible periods, especially in the first set. Even though she did defeat a player in absolute top form like Wozniaki, Serena is still not producing her A-game. The American will look to avenge the group defeat to Halep, even though she joked that her objective this time is to win 3 games.

The H2H is 3-1 for Serena (1-1 on hard), but obviously the most relevant matchup is the 6-0 6-2 Halep win a few days ago. The matchup analysis is pretty simple, Serena is an offensive player who will look for winners, while Halep is a baseline defensive counter puncher who will wait for Serena`s mistake, also looking to turn defense into offense when she has the chance.

Listen, if you ask me who wins this I am inclined to maybe (maybe!) give a 51% chance to Serena due to her experience and overall quality, arguments on which I put huge importance in an analysis for this kind of match. However the odds on Halep are just brilliant and there`s no question about what to bet here – Halep to win is my tip. She`s getting odds over 2.50 despite the fact that she killed Serena a few days ago. The American has not improved by much, she`s still shaky, missing easy shots and I expect a confident Halep (who does not make unforced errors) to force mistakes from the American, just like Wozniaki did yesterday, despite losing. Bottom line: if Serena shows up she`ll win, otherwise she`ll lose to Halep again. Does anyone aside for the bookies think there are over 60% chances for Serena to play her best tennis after what we saw this week? I surely don`t. Anything can happen here, so pick Halep to win at an excellent price. Prediction: Serena Williams – Simona Halep 3-6 6-0 4-6.

  1. like i said…that is the result when you are an idiot..serena crushed her. that set won against ivanovic costed her the tournament. this is the true…is really frustrating when you have heart but you don t have brain…..women\s

  2. o, and i forgot to say..what a big monster is this serena…a true champion to lose 6 0 6 2 and in a few days to win 6 0 6 3 against the same player prove something big. i am really sorry for simona but i blame her for what happened

    • I tend to agree with what you are saying here about Halep, even if you are a bit harsh. I think a lot of people kind of knew if Halep will keep Serena in the race that she will eventually win this tournament. I really didn’t understant the mindset of Halep against Ivanovic because OK you want to be competitive and whatever but she really made the worst out of a good situation. Not only did she keep Serena in the race but she played a long match against Ivanovic which towards the end it looked like she didn’t even want to win. I guess it’s kind of useless to talk about it now but the fact of the matter is she should have been more loose in that Ivanovic match and do what was best in the long run. It happens in a lot of sports where results favoring both parties happen so this should have one of those cases.

Either way you have to congratulate Halep because whatever the situation may have been she managed an incredible performance and she deserves a lot of credit for it.

  3. I should have known better. I can’t believe I made such a rookie mistake, not only the bet on Halep was bad, but i should have bet on serena – and i knew it, but i was blinded by serena’s shaky form

    • you should just not write these lines here …

    • Why not mate? I`m an honest person and that was my point of view. Of course I didn`t mean it to be a rant about the loss, I was just unhappy with my judgement (still am).
