Tottenham – Newcastle

Tottenham Newcastle Premier League odds asian handicapTottenham and Newcastle are both in big need of points as the two sides clash at White Hart Lane Sunday afternoon.

The hosts are just on the 10th place right now but will close the gap to the TOP 4 to just two points if they win today against Newcastle. Tottenham has not played up to expectations so far this season but they did have some good games and were not all around terrible – they are on the back of a 5-1 win over Asteras in Europa League but did lose 1-4 to Manchester City in the last Premier league clash. They surely are motivated to bounce back from that defeat and will hope to repeat the last home performance in the Premier League, when they defeated a strong Southampton side 1-0.

Newcastle finally won a game last round, a hard fought 2-1 win over Leicester, their first of the season – but things are far from OK at Newcastle, atmosphere is still horrible and Alan Pardew is still under huge pressure to improve the poor performances of his side. The Leicester win was key, but the Magpies still have a lot of work to do if they are to avoid relegation and I`m not sure if they can achieve that with a manager that hasn`t got any support from anyone.

Team news & lineups:

Fazio and Walker are out for Tottenham, with Naughton and Bentaleb doubtful. Newcastle has struggled with injuries all season and are in an even worse state than usual ahead of this clash: Aaron, De Jong, Gutierrez, Santon and Good are all out, while Cisse, Ameobi, Riviere, Williamson, Tiote and Dummett are doubtful. Particularly Cisse missing would be a massive blow, as without him Newcastle would probably have 1 or 2 points this season – he should be forced to start however.

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris – Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose – Capoué, Mason – Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli – Kane.

Newcastle United: Krul – Janmaat, Coloccini, S Taylor, Dummett – Anita, Colback – Obertan, Sissoko, Gouffran – Cissé.

I have seen Tottenham playing some great matches against inferior opposition this season and their attacking setup is usually producing a lot of goalscoring chances with Lamela, Eriksen and Chadli playing very well. I fancy the Spurs to easily take care of business against an out of form side with poor morale. The way Newcastle is playing, I would be extremely surprised if they manage to put any kind of pressure on Tottenham today. My tip is Tottenham to win and cover the -1 asian handicap. I hope I won`t  end up losing the profit on what I think is a very solid bet (if Tottenham wins by 1 we`ll not win, only get our money back), but I`ll take the risk – I think Newcastle will be destroyed defensively. Prediction: Tottenham – Newcastle 3-0.
