Ukraine – Poland

Ukraine Poland Euro 2016 bets

Ukraine has already been knocked out from the Euros and will only play for Pride, while Poland is already virtually qualified, but needs a draw to finish Top 2, or a big win to have a chance of ending up first – though that seems almost impossible.

Ukraine was the first team to be eliminated from Euro 2016 after two 0-2 losses against Germany and Northern Ireland. If the Germany defeat was expected and Ukraine actually played very well in that match, the loss against Northern Ireland was a real shocker. Ukraine dominated that meeting and could have (should have) gotten more from it, but their defense and transition play was dreadful, allowing Northern Ireland to create chances on the break.

Poland claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Northern Ireland in the first group game, a difficult match in which Northern Ireland parked the buss in the worst way we have seen in Euro 2016 so far. The Poles went on to snatch a 0-0 draw against Germany, playing a really solid game and they might be 100% qualified by the end of the Group B matches – though it seems impossible for them to miss out on qualification anyway with their 4 points.

Team news & lineups:

Ukraine has a full squad available, but they might choose to give a few of the less used guys the chance to feature in the starting lineup. Poland only has Szczesny to worry about, he`s doubtful and Fabianski will probably continue in goal.

Ukraine: Boyko – Butko, Kucher, Rakytsky, Shevchuk – Rotan, Stepanenko – Yarmolenko, Zinchenko, Konoplyanka – Zozulya

Poland: Fabianski – Piszczek, Glik, Pazdan, Jedrzejczyk – Krychowiak, Jodlowiec, Kapustka, Blaszczykowski – Milik, Lewandowski

This excellent Poland bunch really should not lose this game. It`s unlikely for such a good team to get beaten by a side that has no motivation aside for honor. On the other hand, Ukraine has been a bit unlucky so far and they are not a bad team, while Poland might be happy with a draw, especially if Germany bangs in a couple of goals early against Northern Ireland, making the first place an impossible task for the Poles.

As such, I believe the draw is almost as likely to happen as a Polish win. The bet that makes sense according to my analysis is a draw on the ‘Poland win no bet market’. It`s also pretty much the only type of bet with decent odds if you are picking this game with the idea that Poland will not lose.

Bottom line, my tip is Poland win no bet – Draw. Hopefully it will end in a tie game, but if Poland wins, the stakes will be returned. I was also thinking at both teams to score, but it seems much less safer. Prediction: Ukraine – Poland 1-1.

Pick: Draw – Poland win no bet
