Andreas Seppi - James Ward 🎾

Andreas Seppi is a lot pumped up after his 4th round at Australian Open and win over Federer. But it is unreasonable to expect Seppi to keep that level for the whole year and after all Federer played a crap match back than, so Seppi was not exactly at an incredible level.

What I say is confirmed by the hard match Seppi had against Haase in the first round here, 3 sets.

So you can see I am not sold on Seppi, but he remains a very solid player in good form, he played decent vs Hasse and probably will improve as tournaments goes on. He meets traditional ATP-unable James Ward who can never quite make it at this level.

Ward easily beat Veic in the first round, but Veic was a wildcard and way off the level required in an ATP tournament.

IMO James Ward has absolutely no weapons to hurt Seppi, his serve will be broken to pieces by Seppi's excellent return and generally Seppi's regular play from the baseline will be too much for a player that makes a lot of mistakes. Ward is also not the guy to blast winners all over the place, so I simply can not see how he can hurt Seppi.

Ward lost both his games this year prior to Zagreb (Verdasco, Huta Galung) and he will loose again today IMO, in two sets. I can not see him getting the better of Seppi for a whole set, so it should be 2-0 for the in form Italian.

Max stakes for me.

H2H is 1-0 for Seppi. 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 win for Seppi in straight sets last year on clay in Davis Cup.
