Ferrer plays Mahut in second round at Wimbledon and Ferrer has some serious high odds in this match ... in region of 1.70.
That happens because Ferrer is not in good form over last weeks and grass is his worst surface. He is still top player but is getting older, had a not so good year. Meanwhie, Mahut is a grass specialist, one of the best there is. He already won a title in Hertogenbosch few weeks ago. He beat Klein 3-0 in first round at Wimbledon.
But Ferrer is one of the Top 10 - 15 players in the world and if he plays a good match, I say even on grass Mahut is no match for him.
Ferrer lost 2 of 3 matches on grass this season but came to play in the first round in Wimbledon, 6-2 6-1 6-1 over very dangerous Dudi Sela (good grass court player). He has his game back as you can expect from him in the big tournaments.
For me these odds are too high even on grass. In a 3 out of 5 set match in a Grand Slam I think Ferrer will be too good for Mahut. There is big difference between the players.
All Ferrer needs to do is to play like against Sela and the serve & volley style of Mahut will have little chance. For sure Mahut is more dangeorus then Sela, but Mahut will get passed and frustrated by David Ferrer if the Spain player plays like in the first match.
