Providence will face off against Washington tonight at New York. Game is part of 2K Classic in Madison Square Garden. Providence is 1-1 after losing to Minnesota 86-74, while Washington is 2-0 after beating Belmont and Eastern Washington in first two games of the season.
But, it won't matter tonight. The Friars led Minnesota by three points at halftime before getting outscored by 15 points in the second half and Coach Cooley was furious with his team's defense, saying they'll be much better today. Offensively, they were pretty solid in first two games, led by Kyron Cartwright, who is averaging 11 points, 9.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2 steals per game.
Washington might be 2-0, but they won two games against bad schools. They lost best player, Markelle Fultz (#1 pick in this year's NBA draft) and Noah Dickerson, who averaged 12.5 points and 8.2 rebounds last season, fouled out in 19 minutes against Belmont. Also, David Crisp, the top returning scorer for Washington, is just 5-of-17 from the field this season. They are terrible defensively, they allowed 82 points at home to Belmont.
Providence is very good in last couple of years at neutral site games, being 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games and I expect pretty easy double-digit victory tonight. Good luck!
