Generation duel with Nick Kyrgios of Australia playing with Tommy Robredo of Spain in the US Open 3rd round.
Both players had ups and downs this tournament, Kyrgios being in some danger against an out of form Youzhny and Robredo falling down 2 sets down with Bolelli before recovering big time to win 3-2.
I think Robredo is a much better option and some proof is that his odds dropped from 2 to under 1.70. Why I say that? Robredo is a more mature player and has better consistency in the last few months. Kyrgios was weak in the US Open series while Robredo made great performances including QF spot at Cincinnati beating Djokovic in 2 sets.
I look for the savvy and fast spaniard to give a lesson to his younger opponent. Kyrgios is not consistent and this will be a big problem with a player with so much experience like Robredo.
Robredo also has to defend QF from last year when he beat Federer so even more motivation for him. I think Kyrgios talent will allow him to fight but Robredo will win the big points and win in 4 sets. It is a fact that he played excellent tennis in last few months and even this tournament he looked better than Kyrgios who had opponents out of form.
A Maximum stakes on Robredo is a natural bet IMO.
