This could be an ugly game.
LA is mess right now. They are winless in last 5 and scoreless in last 202 minutes. And cant see them improving till Zardes (11/4) and Keane (6/4) will return from international duty. They lack offensive creativity and clinical striker. Well, lets look at last 2 games. Against Kansas LA look just horrible. Players didnt know what to go with ball and passes between midfield defense, midfield defense, midfield defense, midfield defense and then defender pull ball to Kansas defenders (or midfielders). In that game LA had 63% possession but managed just 1 shot (0 on target), 0 corners. Kansas manages 15 shots (4 on target, 8 corners). 0-0. Oh yes, Kansas had +1=2-7 record prior that game and was missing first choice center back and MF Zusi.
At the weekend almost the same happened against Toronto (although Galaxy had 1 good chance) but at he end LA lost 1-0.
Roders (12/1) is also out, Gerrard (9/2) and dos Santos (10/6, top-scorer) are doubtful and dont see them starting having in mind All Californian derby this weekend.
Colorado is rock solid. As I noted last week coach Mastroeni built decent team and has been able to get the best out of his players. They are solid defensively with reliable keeper, 4 defenders and 2 holding midfielders. Rapids conceded 2 goals only once so far this season and that happened in Montreal which has with plenty of talent up front with Drogba, Piatti, Oduro and Shipp all starting in that game. In other 14 games Rapids conceded 1 or less. If Galaxy has derby game at the weekend Rapids will have 2 weeks off so expect big fight from Rapids before the break.
The only worry is Rapids missing players. Shkelzen Gashi (10/2) and Jermaine Jones (7/3) are still out with respective national teams. Bobby Burling (10/1) is out with knee injury, Marc Burch (12/0) is suspended while Mekeli Williams (12/0) is out for personal reasons. But Rapids are dealing with such woes whole season (Jones was suspended for opening 6 rounds; Pappa was out injured for a while, Doyle missed few games due to international duty) and have adequate replacements. And despite all woes Colorado is league leader and unbeaten in last 10.
Earlier this season Rapids faced LA in Colorado and shout out them despite Gerrard, Keane, Zardes all playing ( Galaxy managed just 1 shot on target in 0-1 loss).
Given the lack of offensive options on LA this could be an ugly game where neither team gets close to scoring. 0-0 or 1-0 to either side look most logical outcome. But just cant see Galaxy scoring twice or more with they way they are playing recently.
