Yesterday Reds gave a good fight thanks to impressive DeSclafani but still lost. Today theyll have on the mound Dan Straily (4-5, 4.38 ERA) who is pitching terrible in past games. Against the Cubs back on June 27, Straily had one of his worst starts of the season. He went 3.2 innings, gave up seven runs on nine hits, struck out two, and walked three in his third straight loss. Actually, in last five starts he is 1-3 with a 6.43 ERA. Over the course of his last 14 innings, he has allowed 17 runs and given up three home runs. To make things worse he is just 2-4 with a 5.22 ERA in six starts (eight appearances) this season.
Joe Ross (7-4, 3.30) has 4-0 in his last seven outings. He gave up nine hits in the first three innings against the Mets on Monday but responded well and picked up his fourth win in his last seven starts. Big plus for him is that neither of current Reds bettors yet to faced him in career.
Cincinnati lost 11 of last 13 matches.
With Straily struggling and Ross having an advantage in terms of nobody facing him in this lineup, I like the Washington Nationals offense to roll past Reds. In addition the Reds have a league-worst bullpen with 6.00 ERA and have given up 61 home runs. Yesterday their bullpen over performed but should be back on earth here.
