I can see this being a tight match between CSKA and Rostov. CSKA have been getting good enough results lately except for the one game against Akhmat where they lost at home 1-0. Despite picking up the points they have not been playing great. Everything seems a little slow and you feel they would benefit from a bit more urgency when going forward.
Last week they won 1-0 away against Amkar and though they were comfortable because Amkar didn't threaten much, they rarely broke Amkar down. They also played midweek in the Champions League where they won against Benfica 2-1. They came from behind in that game but they were a little lucky. Their winner was a penalty that was debateable just minutes after Benfica should probably have ben awarded a penalty of their own.
Most troubling in that game was that their influential midfielder, Golovin, picked up a knock and is doutbful for the game against Rostov. If he doesn't play then that is a big blow for CSKA. For me, he has been their best player this season with most of the good attacking moves going through him.
Rostov uncharacteristically conceded two goals last week at home against Arsenal Tula and needed a penalty at the end of the game to get a point. I can't see them conceding multiple goals becoming a trend though. Prior to that game they had kept two clean sheets ina row against Krasnodar and Zenit, two of the best attacks in the league.
They will line up in their usual 5-4-1 formation which will give CSKA little room operate and will probably force CSKA to play at the slow pace that they have been playing at anyway.
I expect a tight game and CSKA may take a bit of time to get going after the travelling they have done in the last week. They went to Perm, back to Moscow and then had to travel all the way to the other side of Europe to play in Portugal and back again. The extra match and travelling may slow CSKA a little bit, so I see a tight game, especially in the first half and I'm going for there to be no goals in the first half.
