Neither of these sides have had great starts to their new season with Newells having just one point after two games and Olimpo also having just one point. Newells put in a decent display last week away against Huracan but a defensive lapse to Huracan convert from a cross that should never have been allowed to get as far as it did. I think this defence has those kind of lapses in them, so I think I would expect them to concede more often than not.
Perhaps the big concern for Newells here isn't their defence but the fact that Guevgeozian and Sarmiento are both ruled out of this one. Both are influential players and Guevgeozian scored their only goal of the league campaig so far. It will most likly mean that they will switch to a 4-3-3 which will allow them to get forward more with the likes of Torres able to support the attack and I think he is a really capable player who played well last week in a game they probably should have got something from.
Olimpo started the season in the worst possible manner with a trip to Boca where they lost 3-0 before going onto draw at home 1-1 to Independiente. 1-1 doesn't tell the full story though as they relied heavily on their goalkeeper, Gabbarini, to make sure they gained a point. What that means is that Olimpo, like their opponents, are not the most solid team at the back.
Another thing to consider is that Olimpo are not the best team away from home, so I think Newells will like their chances in this game to get up and running properly and put in a good attacking performance. As I said, I think Newells are also vulnerable defensivley, so for that reason I'm going for over 2.5 goals in this one.
