Quite simply, I think these are silly odds. 2.90 for the league's joint second top goalscorer to score is too good to turn down. Diego Valeri plays behind the lone striker for Portland and from that position he has scored 17 times this season which puts him just two goals behind the league's top goalscorer. Not only has he scored 17 goals, he his in great form with one goal in his last seven league matches, includig three away matches, so he's capable of scoring away from home.
Real Salt Lake have conceded the second most goals of anyone in MLS this season with a total of 51 goals conceded. They have kept three clean sheets in their last six matches but two of those came against San Jose and DC United. DC United have by far the worst attack in the league and San Jose's attack is not great either.
Real Salt Lake may not have fully sorted out their defensive problems and Portland come to town in good form and they are one of the best teams in the league. Valeri is in similarly, if not better form and he is willing to shoot from distance which has resulted in him taking 2.9 shots per game, just 0.1 lower than his team mate, Adi. He will also be on penalty taking duty. With all of this in mind I think odds of 2.90 are too high. I would've expected something in the region of 2.20-2.50 so I have to tip this one.
