Monday night football in the Premier League will see Hull City take on West Ham United at KC Stadium.
Hull had a pretty good transfer campaign in the summer, bringing in some good players like Snodgrass, Ince, Ben Arfa, Diame or Abel Hernandez. The hosts have been knocked out by Lokeren in the Europa League and have a mediocre number of 4 points in 3 Premier League rounds, but actually Hull was very solid in this start of the campaign. They were not too interested in the Europa League and used a lot of reserves, while in Premier League they defeated QPR, almost defeated Stoke despite playing 1 hour with 10 men and lost a narrow game against an on fire Aston Villa side.
West Ham will probably give Alex Song his debut today, an inspired signging by the visitors but it remains to be seen if he can contribute right away. West Ham defeated Crystal Palace 3-1 on the road but otherwise lost 1-0 against Tottenham and 1-3 against Southampton (last round), and they were also knocked out by Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup. Few can`t say too many nice words about West Ham`s start of the season, their defense is shaky and with Carroll still injured they don`t pose much of an offensive threat either.
Team news & lineups
Hull City will miss Abel Hernandez, with Ben Arfa, Ramirez and Robertson doubtful. West Ham will be without Carroll and Nolan, while Jenkinson and Jarvis are questionable.
Hull City: McGregor – Davies, Dawson, McShane – Elmohamady, Livermore, Huddlestone, Diamé, Quinn – Ince – Jelavic.
West Ham United: Adrián – O’Brien, Tomkins, Reid, Cresswell – Kouyaté, Noble – Amalfitano, Song, Downing – Zárate,.
I really like Steve Bruce`s Hull this year. The team has a very good roster and has played pretty good football, they would have deserved more points and better results. West Ham on the other side is shaky and it seems they need some time to put together a strong team this year. Hull is clearly the better side at the moment in my opinion and we also have to note that the Tigers are a traditionally strong home team, so that improves their odds to win this even more. It will probably be a close match, but Hull should win in the end. I was thinking about a -01,25 asian handicap here but in the end I will take a claculated risk and tip Hull to win, no handicaps attached. Prediction: Hull City – West Ham United 2-1.
