Mainz and Borussia Dortmund will meet in one of the most anticipated Bundesliga games this weekend, and one with some great betting potential as well.
Mainz got an impressive 3-1 win at Hertha last weekend, a solid result but not one to convince anybody that Mainz has got out of the slump. The beginning of the season was horrible for the hosts, losing to Asteras in Europa League and getting only 2 draws in accessible games in the first 2 Bundesliga rounds. Against Hertha, despite winning 3-1, Mainz was the second best team and had a lot of luck to score at every single opportunity they had. Surely they must do the same if they are to get a result against Dortmund.
Borussia was also a little shaky to start the season, they beat Bayern in the Supercup 2-0 but lost at home to Leverkusen with the same result. However, the last two outings were great for Klopp`s side – a 3-2 win at Augsburg (leading 3-0 until the final few minutes) and most notably a masterclass performance against Arsenal in the Europa League, the 2-0 result actually being too tight for the way Dortund dominated. I reckon Borussia has a better team than last year, making some fantastic signings which more than made up for Lewandowski`s departure.

Sliskovic and Noveski are out for Mainz, with Koo and Park doubtful. Dortmund has the usual lengthy injury list – Gundogan, Kirch, Reus, Piszczsek, Sahin and Ji are unavailable, Blaszczykowski and Hummels are questionable.

Surely you could see where this analysis was going and that is a pick on Dortmund to win. The visitors seem to have put all pieces into place, found cohesiveness and are in excellent form, while Mainz did not play too well so far and is a little over hyped after the fortunate win against Hertha last round. With all the offensive firepower Dortmund has and with Mainz`s shaky defense, I reckon the visitors can also cover a 1 goal handicap. So, according to the analysis, my tip is Dortmund to win with a -1 asian handicap. Prediction: Mainz – Borussia Dortmund 0-3.
