Wigan Athletic will look to step it up a notch and get closer to the playoff places after a poor start to the season, but hosting Ipswich will not be the easiest of tasks for the Latics.
Wigan has gained just 8 points in the first 7 Championship rounds and really need to improve if they are to challenge for a playoff spot. On the bright side, the Latics have done really well at home, winning twice and drawing once out of 3 matches, including two wins to nil in the last two games. The last outing for Wigan was a 0-0 draw at Huddersfield.
Ipswich is set for a mid table finish this year in my opinion – last season they were very close to a playoff place but I doubt they can repeat the feat, as the Championship seems stronger this year. So far Ipswich played well for their standards, 11 points in 7 matches. Could have done better but overall they played decent football. Similar to Wigan, Ipswich played much better away from home, so it will be a challenge for them to get points at the DW stadium.
Team news & lineups
Wigan has a full squad to choose from, Ipswich will only miss Stewart.
Wigan Athletic: Carson; Ramis, Boyce, Taylor, Kiernan; Perch, Huws, Cowie, Kvist, McManaman; Delort
Ipswich Town: Gerken; Mings, Parr, Chambers, Berra; Skuse, Tabb, Bishop, Anderson; McGoldrick, Murphy
Wigan is they slightly better side and will take confidence from playing at home, but their form is poor and Ipswich has lost just twice this season. I don`t think any team is strong enough to take the three points here – the draw seems like the best bet and the most likely result and as always the odds are excellent. My tip is a draw and I`ll pick this one with high stakes (for this kind of bet), as I feel the value is trough the roof, especially at Bet365 with a price of 3.50. Prediction: Wigan Athletic – Ipswich Town 1-1.
