Juventus – Roma

Juventus Roma betting previewMassive game in Italy, as the two top favorites to win the Serie A meet in Turin to decide who gets the upper hand in the first part of the season. Both Juventus and Roma have won all their 5 Serie A matches so far.

Juve showed some pretty good football this season despite losing Antonio Conte, but the Italians were exposed midweek when they lost 1-0 in Spain to Atletico Madrid. The backbone of this Juve team is a rock solid defense (zero goals conceded so far in Serie A), but at was seen against Atletico, they can struggle to score goals against better sides and still need some time to reach their potential under Allegri. However, this does not make them less dominant in Italy, where they are the favorites for a 3rd straight title.

Roma is even better than last year, when the Giallorossi finished 2nd. The visitors lost Benatia in the summer but made a whole bunch of top class additions to the squad (Cole, Manolas, Astori, Iturbe, etc.) and have matched Juventus in performances so far in the Serie A. Five wins out of five for Roma, just 1 goal conceded and most notably the visitors backed up their domestic results with top European football: 5-1 against CSKA and 1-1 midweek at Manchester City.

Team news & lineups:

Juve will be without Barzagli, Marone and Romulo, while Pirlo, Morata and Caceres are doubtful. Roma will be again without Castan, Balzaretti, Astori, Strootman and De Rossi, with De Sanctis questionable. Rudi Garcia will likely have to choose between Skorupski and Lobont in goal, with Skorupski likely to get the job.

Juventus: Buffon – Chiellini, Caceres, Bonucci – Lichsteiner, Pogba, Vidal, Marchisio, Evra – Tevez, Llorente

Roma: Skorupski – Maicon, Manolas, Yanga-Mbiwa, Cole – Pjanic, Keita, Nainggolan, Florenzi – Totti, Gervinho

I was thinking that Roma should be able to get a draw here, they look like a slightly more composed side in my opinion, but the bet to take on this match is clearly under 2,5 goals and I`m very surprised we are getting such high odds on this pick. We`re talking about two sides that conceded just 1 goal in 10 matches combined, two teams that are built on solid defenses and meet in a crucial match. Nobody can afford to lose so surely very few risks will be taken, similar to last seasons encounters, when Juve and Roma met three times: 1-0, 0-1 and 3-0. Expect a tight encounter between two fines sides that will nullify eachother, the focus is on defense and we should really see under 2,5 goals, so that is my tip here. De Sanctis missing would be a downside for the under, but only to some extent, as Skorupski did very well midweek at City. I don`t rule out Roma getting the shock win. Prediction: Juventus – Roma 0-1.
