Poland – Scotland

Poland Scotland betting tipsVery interesting Euro 2016 qualifying match between Poland and Scotland, with both sides sitting comfortably in Group D and coming after important wins.

I reckon everybody knows by now that Poland won 2-0 against Germany over the weekend, amazing result and a lot of heart showed by the Poles in that match. It has to be said however that Germany missed tons of chances and really deserved to win that game, so we have to put things into perspective. Nevertheless, Poland is looking really good right now, playing great football – they have an excellent generation and are topping the group with 6 points after previously defeating Gibraltar 7-0. We should not be surprised that Poland is performing so good, they showed great improvements towards the end of the World Cup qualifying campaign and I remember them ending that group stage with a 2-0 loss away to England, a match in which they had amazing goal scoring chances at Wembley.

Scotland can finally hope to reach a final tournament thanks to this new Euro 2016 qualifying format but they need to take some points today, as the group is very tough. Scotland played a good game to lose 2-1 in Germany in the first round and followed that with a simple 1-0 win over Georgia. The visitors have a pretty good roster with Premier Leauge level players, they can play football and they do look much better than a couple of years back, but you can see Scotland is still not quite a trustworthy team, they have their limitations especially on the offensive end.

Team news & lineups

Both sides are free of any new absentees and Poland is actually expected to field the same lineup as they did against Germany.

Poland: Szczesny – Szukala, Jodlowiec, Wawrzyniak, Gilk, Piszczek – Krychowiak, Grosicki, Rybus – Milik, Lewandowski

Scotland
: Marshall – Hutton, R.Martin, Hanley, Robertson – Maloney, Morrison, Brown, Anya – S.Fletcher, Naismith

The big question that lies upon Poland is if they can handle the Germany win and put on a second performance in a couple of days – I think they will. I`m not under any illusions that Poland are world beaters, they are not and they were very lucky against the world Champions. Also, that game surely took a lot from them and we might see a less spirited performance. That being said, Poland has amazing morale, plays at home, and fact is that they are a much better team than Scotland. I know the visitors very well, I respect their improvement, but I do not see them having what it takes to take points on the road against a side like Poland.

My tip is Poland to win, the odds should be slightly lower here and it`s only natural they are dropping. It has to be noted that the two sides played a friendly in Warsaw 7 month ago and Scotland won 1-0, but personally I don`t put much emphasys on a simple friendly game. Prediction: Poland – Scotland 2-1.
