Manchester United takes on Liverpool in a massive Premier League derby clash this Sunday, but the way Liverpool has been playing recently, the bookies had to price United at measly odds of 1.80 to win.
I`m still far from sold on this United side, I continue to be very circumspect about Van Gaal`s abilities to create a top Premier League side, even with all that money. However, the fact is that United has climbed to the 3rd place in the standings after the 2-1 win at Southampton last round and the Devils are riding an impressive 5 match winning streak, including victories over Arsenal or the previously mentioned Southampton. The hosts also keep getting players back from injuries, so things are looking pretty good right now.
Liverpool put on another abysmal performance midweek in a 1-1 home draw with Basel that knocked them out from the Champions League – Liverpool fell behind early and never really stood a chance to win. Morale could hardly be lower for ‘Pool after missing out on UCL qualification, especially considering that they are on the 9th place in the Premier League, coming after a 0-0 home draw with Sunderland.

Team news & lineups:
Di Maria will miss the third consecutive game for United, while Blind, Shaw, Lingard and Smalling are also still out. On the bright side, Rafael and Jones are fit again and might participate. Liverpool will be without Sturridge, Suso and Flanagan while Balotelli and Toure are doubtful. Lallana is slightly doubtful, but should be at least on the bench.
Manchester United: De Gea – Jones, Evans, Rojo – Herrera, Carrick, Fellaini, Young- Rooney – Van Persie, Falcao
Liverpool: Mignolet – Johnson, Lovren, Skrtel, Enrique – Lucas, Henderson, Gerrard – Sterling, Balotelli (Borini), Lallana
Last time these two met at Old Trafford Liverpool emerged with a historic 3-0 win, but things have changed so much since than. United will be keen to avenge that loss and in the current circumstances I reckon they will do just that, with a price of ~1.85 being just about right for them to win – even if the Devils will be without Di Maria, they did fine without him in the lineup recently and team news for United keep getting better and better. Liverpool just can`t get anything right, they have no clue on the defensive and and the defense is far from secure, so my tip here is Manchester United to win. Prediction: Manchester United – Liverpool 2-0.
