Indiana Pacers and New Orleans Pelicans will both be looking for a win in their quest to reach the NBA playoffs when they meet in Indiana Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.
The Pacers (9-19, 5-8 at home) got off with a horrible start, having most starters injured, but they started to get players back and are in a better spot right now. Indiana’s defensive efforts have improved drastically with the frontcourt duo of Hibbert and West fit again, but today they will square off against arguably the best big man in the league, Anthony Davis. Despite the horrible record, the Pacers can surely catch the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, but they need every win they can get. Indy won 2 of the last 4 games. The hosts might get George Hill back for this one, but of course Paul George remains sidelined.

New Orleans (14-13, 6-9 away) are in good shape right now, winning 3 of the last 4 despite the fact that they met really good teams. Davis has made this Pelicans team into a playoff contender in the strong Western Conference, but the problem for New Orleans is that they rely too much on him. Davis can still be a little inconsistent at times and when he`s not on, the Pelicans have few other weapons to score. The bench is also poor.
I`m looking for a low scoring game here. The key is that Davis will be matches against the best defensive frontcourt in the league, and one of the best defensive sides overall. I doubt Davis can have a monster game against Hibbert and West, especially considering that he is coming after a magnificent performance in the last match. Look for the young star to be a little off tonight and the Pelicans will struggle big time to score against the defensive minded Indiana. Actually, Indy has always held New Orleans and Davis to low scoring games recently. On the other hand, the Pacers are the worse team here, and I doubt they can put up too many points themselves, especially with their poor offense.
My tip is under 193 points to be scored. I think the Pelicans will just edge it, but the under over market is the way to go. I have to say that overtime is a small danger in a game like this, but there`s no pick without risk and we can only bet the probabilities. Prediction: Indiana Pacers – NO Pelicans 90-93.
