Ghana – Eq Guinea

Ghana Equatorial Guinea betting previewGhana meets the African Cup of nations hosts, Equatorial Guinea, in the tournament semifinals. The winner will play Ivory Coast in the final.

I liked Ghana’s performance a lot in this African Cup of Nations, very solid football from them … started with a defeat in the last minute vs. Senegal but then beat South Africa (2-1), Algeria (1-0) and Guinea (3-0). In the last three games Ghana played very well on the defensive end and they will have to do it again today because their offense will take a blow … captain Asamoah Gyan won’t be available in the lineup for the second match in a row.

For Equatorial Guinea the semifinals are an amazing performance, nobody expected them to go this far … they don’t have too much quality, only class player is Nsue from Middlesbrough. But Equatorial Guinea got here by winning only 1 match in regular time (vs. Gabon), had some luck to get some results in the group stage and were clearly favored by referees … especially vs. Tunisia in the quarters, the hosts won only because of the referees. Equatorial Guinea has a full squad available for today and will probably field the same lineup like vs. Tunisia.

Ghana is defending very well, while Equatorial Guinea does not have too much offensive weapons when not helped by referees. I expect the refereeing today to be more honest after the scandal with the Tunisia game, so I do not see Equatorial Guinea generating problems for Ghana’s defense. On the other hand the hosts will surely make it tough for their opponents with a crowded defense and Ghana might struggle without their captain Gyan in such a key match … my tip here will be that both teams will not score. Expect cautious football from both teams. Correct score prediction: Ghana – Equatorial Guinea 1-0.
