Universitatea Cluj will take on rivals CFR at Cluj Arena in the Romanian Liga 1, in the traditional derby of the city. The two teams already met twice this year in the Cup semifinals, with U Cluj ending up as winners after a total of 210 minutes without a single goal scored.
The win in the Cup was a historic performance for Universitatea, finally getting one over their rivals after a long period in which they were second best. We have two teams that scored 4 goals together in a combined 20 matches this season (!!!), and who could not score a single time in 210 minutes of football in the direct meetings in the Cup. If this does not scream “under”, I don`t know what does. Expect another horrible offensive performance from both sides and overall a very cautious approach to the game – considering it`s a derby and a vital clash in the fight for relegation. These sides have absolutely zero offensive quality and are virtually built for 0-0 draws / 1-0 wins, especially Universitatea. With CFR’s best striker out, the visitors will find it very hard to even take shots at goal or create opportunities, let alone to score.
With the arguments above in mind, my tip is under 1,5 goals on the under / over market and I wouldn`t be surprised if the two sides will record a third consecutive goalless draw. Prediction: Universitatea Cluj – CFR Cluj 0-0.
