Pandurii Targu Jiu and Dinamo Bucharest will meet in the most anticipated match of the Romanian League Cup first stage – a second consecutive matchup after the two teams played at the same venue in their last match, in Liga 1. It was a 2-2 draw, a fair result, but Dinamo was closed to defeat, equalizing in the last second.
Pandurii is in pretty good shape right now, they almost got the win against the Red Dogs last Saturday and lost a single match from the last six, climbing up to the 6th spot in the table. It is expected that Pandurii will field the best lineup today, especially since almost all players had some extra rest due to the National team break. Pandurii reached the final of the competition last year (beating Dinamo twice in the semifinals) and they always treated it very seriously.
Dinamo had great results so far this season, they are the only undefeated team in Romania, despite from not having the best talent available. Experienced coach Mircea Rednic is doing a great job, but at the same time it`s worth noting that Dinamo has not won a single game on the road – 4 home wins, 5 draws away.

Dinamo`s manager stated that he will take the League Cup very seriously, but at the same time he left a number of key players at home. Cerniauskas, Filip, Rotariu and Nedelcearu, all internationals, have been left at home – with the first two being probably the best players in the team, the other two very important squad members. It seems like new signing Anton, who came from Pandurii, will be available, but at least other 2 regulars are expected to be rested. Dinamo will likely line up in the following manner, with 4-5 of the projected starters normally being substitutes in league matches.
Dinamo Buc: Abraham – Feussi, Marc, Mevlja, Fai – Tarcoveanu, Vojnovic – Matei, Palic, Gavrila – Gnohere
Dinamo doesn`t have the deepest squad at the moment and missing 3-4 key players could prove crucial – especially Cerniauskas and Filip, who carried the team on their shoulders so far. Pandurii is a good side, very exuberant at home and they are likely to field a stronger lineup in this match. Dinamo is also notoriously struggling against Pandurii, beating them a single time in the last 6 meetings (Pandurii won 4 times).
Looking at last week`s league match, with the hosts being seconds away from winning against a full strength Dinamo side, I reckon there`s good value to back a bet on a Pandurii win, but not without a little insurance. My tip is Pandurii to win with a -0,25 asian handicap. The odds are similar to what they were last week and I find value in that, considering Dinamo`s squad problems. Prediction: Pandurii Targu Jiu – Dinamo Bucharest 2-1.
Pick: Pandurii (-0,25 Asian Handicap)

I don’t understand your logic for this one man. Dinamo was advertised as using the main squad(except for the keeper), no reason to think Pandurii will win this against the only undefeated team in Romanian football this season. Also, Dinamo have a huge advantage in the midfield right now, and the best defense. Love your analysis as usual, but I feel you sometimes try to be extra unbiased, even when you shouldn’t.
Rednic played a trick on us, he said he will leave Filip at home, suggested he will rest some guys. That was my logic. Maybe in the matchday things changed, but I worked on the info provided in the day before and I did not expect this.
thx for the kind words, I really did not try to be “too” objective, I`m sure people will find me subjective again if Federer does not cover the bet I am planning for today.
