The 9-12 Minnesota Timberwolves are early 1 point favorites to snatch a win against the 8-14 Nuggets, but the Wolves will be aware that playing in Denver, at high attitude, requires them coming into this match ready to ball. Fortunately for them, Minnesota is one of the most spirited teams in the league, always energeting and coming in with a positive attitude.

Denver is in rebuilding mode and has played pretty decent this year, but they have been utterly disappointing at home, where they are posting a poor 3-7 win – loss record. On paper the Nuggets have an important advantage when playing at home, due to the high altitude of the city, but it hasn`t been the case this year. Still missing a couple of players, Denver is on the back of a very poor performance against Orlando, a 74-85 loss in which they could not get anything going – and yet another disappointing home performance.

The Timberwolves are looking very, very good this year and even though they probably won’t make the playoffs, this team has a very bright future ahead. With Andrew Wiggins developing into an all-star, with this year’s No.1 pick Karl Anthony Towns a future all star as well and with a bunch of other great talents like Rubio or LaVine, with a pure scorer in Kevin Martin and a bunch of other pieces (including one of the best benches in the NBA), this team will be in the playoff mix next year for sure. Minnesota is already playing very well this season, better than their 9-12 record suggests, as they lost a number of close games to top teams.

I like the Wolves a lot in this one. They are the more talented team and playing in Denver has been easier than it should have been for visiting sides this season, so I don’t see this as much of a threat for the Wolves. Neither side played well in their last games, but while Denver lost, Minnesota managed to scrape a win against the Lakers, showing great maturity – winning despite playing poorly.

Both sides should show a better performance today, but Minnesota is the team to beat. They are developing into a solid, trustworthy ball club, capable of defeating inferior teams like Denver. Look for the bench play to be the difference maker today. Wolves have so much energy and options when the starters are out, while Denver have none aside from Barton – but he is basically a starter disguised into a bench player. Difficult to see any matchup advantages for Denver, they don’t have superiority over the Wolves in any position.

Minnesotta won two games in a row in Denver and should make it three in a row tonight. My tip is Wolves to cover the 1 point spread and I also anticipate a drop in the odds on this bet. Prediction: Denver Nuggets – Minnesota Timberwolves 93-100.
