Yet another night of NBA basketball will see the lowly Philadelphia 76ers looking for their 4th win of the season when they host Minnesota Timberwolves at the Wells Fargo Center.
Philadelphia (3-33) won 2 out of 3 matches before falling ugly in the last two meetings – a 9 point loss to a Kobe-less Lakers side and a 31 point demolition suffered at the hand of the Clippers. Seems the Sixers are back to the losing ways and it’s not surprising really considering the blatant lack of quality in the squad. It’s yet another season in which they are trying to lose in order to get a high draft pick, but over the last few years they did the same thing and it didn’t have any positive effect.

The Wolves (12-22) also recorded two straight losses, though they had a chance against the Bucks a few nights ago, eventually losing by 10. It seems that they won’t make the playoffs this year, but the team is not bad at all. Wiggins and Towns are future all stars for sure, already posting big numbers, the team is very talented, has a great bench and has some veteran leadership as well. Wolves still need more experience and consistency, but they are going in the right direction and are already dangerous.
The Wolves are obviously a better team, but they also have the two key ingredients to beat the 76ers. One is effort – this is a very spirited and exuberant team and if you have effort you will beat the Sixers, because effort is the only thing Philadelphia does better than some other NBA teams and that’s how they get a win in every 10 matches or so, by playing harder. The second argument is Minnesota’s bench – an excellent bench which should put up big numbers against a poor Philadelphia bench that would probably get hammered even in the Euroleague.
I also like the mindset showed by the two clubs in the press conferences. Why the dirt poor 76ers seemed so happy and autosufficient after winning 2 of the last 5 games, the Wolves were livid after their defeat to the Bucks and promised to improve. If Minnesota will put up a solid effort today, as they will most likely do, they should win rather easy.
My tip is Minnesota to win and cover a 4 point spread. Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers – Minnesota Timberwolves 90 -100.

Philadelphia crushed them. A team with 3 out of 36 and you pick against them now….damn
I didn’t write about the additions of Ish Smith and D’Antoni because I thought they did not matter, but maybe I should have. Ish Smith played like Chris Paul, jeez …
