Dinamo – Steaua

Dinamo Bucharest will host Steaua Bucharest at Arena Nationala in what will be yet another episode of the biggest Romanian football derby.

Dinamo is having a poor season under Ioan Andone, fighting to claim a playoff spot and sitting on the 6th place at the moment. The team was expected to be higher in the standings, but they haven`t shown consistency and were also victims of refereeing errors which cost them a fair number of points. The horrific defense set in place by Ioan Andone is also one of the main reasons for which Dinamo struggled (just 2 clean sheets in 20 matches in all competitions). Steaua is leading the league and has an 8 point advantage in front of Dinamo, but the visitors have been very disappointing themselves. Despite having by far the best squad in Romania, Steaua barely crawled its way so far and only the very poor level of opposition is allowing them to hold the top spot in the table. Steaua is coming after a disappointing 0-0 home draw with Botosani, but they did record a huge win in the Europa League last week, 2-1 against Osmanlispor.

Despite trailing Steaua by 8 points, it`s not all lost for Dinamo, as all the teams will have their points cut in half after the regular season. As long as they make the playoffs, the Red Dogs will have a chance for a top spot. A win today would be huge.

I talked all season about Dinamo’s defensive problems and the offensive style implemented by manager Ioan Andone. Betting on goals has been very profitable, as the stats below clearly reflect.
