Glasgow Rangers and Inverness Caledonian Thistle will square off in a Scottish Premiership clash, set to be played on the Christmas Eve afternoon.

Rangers finally returned to the Premiership this season and they did it in style, jumping right back into their usual Top 2 position. The hosts are not good enough yet to challenge Celtic, but after some impressive signings in the summer, they are on track to finish second. The hosts won 3 consecutive matches and 5 of the last 6, sitting 14 points behind Celtic but 7 points in front of Aberdeen (both having a game in hand).

Inverness is dead last in the Premiership, but they are not as bad as their standings might suggest. Inverness also has a game in hand, so a win today could see them move up as high as 7th! The visitors however have not won in their last 7 matches (4 losses, 3 draws). They are coming after two draws against fellow strugglers Kilmarnock and Hamilton.

Rangers has been very solid this season, they are in good form and they have been particularly excellent at home – where they are still undefeated with 6 losses and 3 draws.

The hosts should be able to win this game, but I wouldn`t be surprised if Inverness puts up a fight. The visitors are a decent side and can be relatively organized. They struggle to win games, but they are prone to draws (7 in 18 matches).

Glasgow is a rather defensive minded team this year (they scored just 2 more goals than Inverness!), they don`t usually win big and 4 of their last 5 wins came by a single goal. Overall this season, 7 out of their 10 wins came by one goal. Against an Inverness side that will give away possession and will stay behind the ball, it could be difficult for the hosts, even if Inverness conceded the most goals in the Premiership so far.

I think the best value here is in backing Rangers to win by 1 goal. I can see them winning by one or two, hopefully we get a bit lucky and they do it by just one, for a great return of investment. This choice definitely has better value than the straight win or a -1 asian handicap win, the two other potential candidates for a bet in my eyes.
