PSG - Chelsea

PSG could not defeat Lille during the weekend despite playing on home ground and the match ended goalless. However, this result does not really affect their standing on the league table in France as they are top of the table with a significant advantage over the rest of the teams and it was obvious that they already had their minds on the Chelsea game in the Champions League since they rested some important players such as top scorer and star player Zlatan Ibrahimovic (20/21 f), midfielder Thiago Motta (24/1 m) and defender Thiago Silva (22/1 d). Aurier (19/2 d) and Lavezzi (16/2 f) will miss out tonight.

Chelsea are having a mediocre season and it was a big surprise and disappointment for the fans to see their much loved coach (Jose Mourinho) who won them the English Premier League title last season being sacked and treated ruthlessly by the impatient Abramovich. The main reason for their lack of spark this season might be due to the lack of investment in new players and positions (mainly defence). The team is lying in mid position on the league table and performances have been decent in recent games as they are undefeated in their last 12 matches in all competitions. Club captain Terry (21/1 d), Zouma (23/1 d), Matic (25/1 m), Falcao (9/1 f) and Pato (0/0 f) will miss out.

PSG are surely better prepared as they could afford the luxury to rest players in the weekend and they have an almost full squad to choose from for tonight's game. Besides, they will be brimming with confidence as they have virtually already won their domestic league and the main target is now the Champions League. Chelsea seem to be lacking something and with so many ups and downs this season, I think that they are not in their best of form to face a strong side like PSG. Moreover, the away side is missing some key players and to beat PSG, you need all your big names to play.

With Chelsea having problems in defence, I would take a further risk by predicting PSG to win this game by two or more goals difference since the home side plays an attacking style and since it is a two legged tie, it would not be wise for the French to win by a single goal margin. In other words, with home advantage, they should be aiming for much more than that so as gain a significant advantage before making their way to Stamford Bridge.
