Being tipped to be among the relegation contenders this season, Hull City have defied all odds and made an excellent start in the league by defeating defending champions Leicester City in their first competitive game of the season. They continued their rich vein of form by defeating Swansea in their second league match last week and also by winning against Exeter in the League Cup during midweek. Nobody thought this team would be firing on all fronts like this especially since they have recently been promoted from the Championship to the English Premier League; their manager Steve Bruce left the club due to some issues with the owners; the team lost some of their quality players in the transfer market and there have been no notable new signings. Moreover, there are lots of injuries in the squad. First choice goalkeeper Allan McGregor, defender Odubajo, defender Bruce, defender Dawson, defender Lenihan and forward Luer are all missing.
Manchester United have made a sizzling start in the English Premier League under the "Special One" - Jose Mourinho as they easily won their first three competitive matches (Community Shield & EPL) played so far. The latter has bluntly stated that his new team is targetting the league title this season and any other scenario would be a disappointment for him. To achieve this goal, he has brought in star/world class players in the team such as experienced striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well as midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and rising stars notably midfielder Paul Pogba & defender Eric Bailly. The team has so far been solid in defence, efficient in attack and everything suggests that the future looks bright for Mourinho and his boys. Everyone is fit and available to play.
Despite all the problems that Hull City are experiencing off the pitch, they keep flying high and have managed to obtain victories in all their competitive matches so far. Nonetheless, I am confident that Manchester United will bring them back down to earth tonight simply because the Red Devils have better players in all positions and a brillant manager/head coach whose methodical approach should help the team to avoid making the same mistakes that the opponents of Hull City (Leicester, Swansea, Exeter) had made which resulted in defeats for them.
