Tonight's clash brings Hertha vs Schalke. Schalke is a team with high hopes, but of course in Bundesliga it is difficult in recent years to hope for the title as Bayern is totally dominating, so the main objective in the championship for Schalke is a CL spot. They are currently sitting on 3rd position which will allow them to play in the CL next season as well. They have very good stats at home (9-2-2) with 29 goals scored and 14 received. For tonight's game they have a few absentees, but most of them are long term (Fuchs, Hwedes, Aogo, Kirchhoff, Santana, Papadopoulos, Uchida and Hger) and we can add to this list the suspended Boateng. One would think it would be a difficult game for Shalke but in my opinion they can still produce a very good starting 11 and dominate at home(!) a newly promoted team. Because Hertha is a newly promoted team. They should be very happy with what they achieved so far, and I do believe their European hopes were trashed after the winter break. Hertha also has a few players missing: Van den Berg and Pekarik, and Lustenberger is doubtful. Hertha is a decent traveller in the Bundesliga but I do believe it will be very hard for them to take something out of this game and at this odds it worth a try.
