A big day for the former Wimbledon champion and youngest ever World Number 1. Legend Lleyton Hewitt will play his last Wimbledon.
There is not much hope for him on the back of recent results, because played only a few matches this year and lost the last 5. But Lleyton showed he still got it in a couple of matches, including last one .. having match point against Anderson in Queens.
Fortunately for Hewitt the draw was super kind to him.
Nieminen doesn't like grass, he is not a young gun to say he will beat down Lleyton with fitness and he is not in good form, lost 5 out of 7 matches.
Another good thing for Hewitt in drawing Nieminen is that he won all 5 matches against the Finnish player, so that means Nieminen does not like his style. It will also give extra confidence for Hewitt, which is what he needs the most.
Hewitt is a grass court expert, he won a tournament on grass less than one year ago in Newport and he still got it on his day. I am sure he is gonna give everything to win one last time at Wimbledon and then have a legendary farewell against Djokovic in the second round (even if that can end badly, but we know Lleyton is a fighter and will give everything to play that match).
For sure Hewitt made Wimbledon his primary focus this year and gave everything to be ready, so he could look much better than usual. I don't think it was a coincidence that he played maybe his best match of the season exactly before Wimbledon.
