APOEL tried their best to play organized football and not allow too many goals in this group and they did well in this regard. APOEL was not heavily beaten by anyone but they did not put anybody in danger either. Visitors are a totally defensive side, scoring only one goal in this group stage (1-1 vs. Ajax from a penalty) and they play the same brand of football in Cyprus where they lead the league with a 17-2 goal difference in 12 rounds. Unfortunately for APOEL they are even worse on offense lately and not quite finding their game … two hard 1-0 wins in the last 2 games, their only wins in the last 6 matches. APOEL held Ajax to a 1-1 draw in Cyprus but I don’t think they can get a result vs. an in-form Ajax side today. Playing at home will make Ajax a much tougher opponent and APOEL is not in the best form at the moment … my tip will be Ajax to win and I have confidence they will pull it off even if they will also qualify 3rd with a tied result. APOEL will need to open up a bit and forfeit that super defensive style, Ajax will punish them. Also it is important that APOEL will miss 2 or 3 key players in defense.
