Belgian giants Anderlecht are not having the best season for sure, but they will welcome a visit from last placed Mons in the 26th round of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
The hosts are third in the standings with no chance whatsoever to win the title, but they can finish second as they are just 5 points behind Club Brugge and with a game in hand. All kinds of european places are up for grabs, so Anderlecht has everything to play for as the Jupiler League playoffs get closer and closer. Anderlecht recovered after an abysmal start to the season and played good football at times, but lately their form dipped again – the hosts have 1 win, 1 draw and 2 losses in their last 4 league games. On the other hand, their last home game was a solid 2-0 win over second placed Club Brugge. Another highlight of Anderlecht`s season has been their excellent offensive game (52 goals in 25 games).
Mons has been a total disaster this season. With just 13 points in 25 rounds, the team is virtually relegated (10 points from safety) and does not have much left to fight for. The stats are telling for the way Mons played this season – worst offense in the league (20 goals) and second worst defense (45 goals allowed). Mons is in very poor form right now, with 4 consecutive losses – last time out they lost 5-1 at home to Lierse. Actually, Mons lost all 6 matches they played in 2014, friendlies and official ones.

Team news for Anderlecht say that Acheampong and Danny De Zeeuw are still out. Manager John van den Brom urged his squad not to underestimate Mons, but he was very confident of getting the three points here, stating the training sessions this week were excellent for the lads and that they are past the recent bad run of form. Team news for Mons say that they will miss a couple of players, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Anderlecht match squad: Proto, N’Sakala, Deschacht, Milivojevic, Praet, Pollet, Najar, Kaminski, Nuytinck, Cyriac, Kouyate, Bruno, Kljestan, Mbemba, Gillet, Tielemans, Vanden Borre, Mitrovic & Vargas
I remember the hosts dominating Mons earlier this season on the road and winning 2-0 in a time where Anderlecht was playing really really bad. Mons is just nowhere near Jupiler League standards and I expect Anderlecht to get back in form with a solid home win here. As always, the Belgian giants are having excellent stats on home court (9-1-2 statline, 29-10 goal difference). With an average of over 2 goals per game scored this season, I trust Anderlecht to have little problems creating chances and putting some goals past their helpless opponents. As a sidenote, Mons managed to lose by just one goal against Club Brugge two rounds ago, but that was a rare performance for Mons, plus Anderlecht is more offensive minded so I`m betting they should record an easier win. Motivation is also higher for the home team. My tip is Anderlecht -2 asian handicap. Prediction: Anderlecht – Mons Bergen 3-0.
