A struggling Arsenal side will host the in form Southampton on Wednesday in the Premier League.
Arsenal’s start of the season has been one to forget, and the Gunners have been particularly poor lately. With 7 defeats in 12 Premier League games, Arsenal (sitting on the 15th place in the table!) has lost three in a row, and four in a row at home! The last “achievement” was a 0-1 loss against the lowly Burnley on Sunday and Mikel Arteta finds himself under massive pressure coming into this clash.
In complete contrast to Arsenal, Southampton has been excellent so far in the Premier League. The Saints are 4th in the table, just two points behind leaders Tottenham, and are on the back of a comfortable 3-0 victory against Sheffield United on Sunday. It’s worth noting that Southampton lost just once on the road this season and is on a 5 match unbeaten run away from home.

Arsenal will miss Xhaka, Bellerin, and Partey. There are also question marks about Martinelli, Luiz, Nelson and Kolasinac. As far as Southampton is concerned, there are no reported injuries or suspensions and it seems they will have a full squad available.

Arsenal is not just losing games, they are playing really poor football as well. The defense is very vulnerable, while the offense is completely out of ideas, unable to create anything. I mean, the Gunners are scoring less than one goal per game in the Premier League.
The hosts are in deep crisis, the atmosphere in and around the club is toxic, and it is pretty clear that Arteta has lost the dressing room. There seems to be chaos at every level in the club.
With everything that is happening at Arsenal and the way they are playing, you have to feel that a cohesive, organized and in form team like Southampton is perfectly suited to punish them. The Saints are playing great football, they are happy and have the counter attacking abilities which seem ideal in a matchup with Arsenal.
Arsenal allowed a couple thousand fans to attend the Burnley game, but that won’t happen against Southampton due to new COVID restrictions in London.
My tip will be Southampton win or draw. At the moment it really is hard to see Arsenal win a game against a quality team like the Saints, and it’s hard to argue against this bet no matter what the end result will be. Prediction: Arsenal – Southampton 1-2.
