Aston Villa and Crystal Palace will open the 21st round of Premier League football, with both teams coming after disappointing results in the Premier League.
With just 8 points in the first 20 Premier League matches, it would be a huge miracle if Aston Villa even gets back in the fight to avoid relegation, let alone stay in the division. It has been a season to forget for the Villans and there are no prospects of things getting better. The hosts lost 3-1 to Sunderland and drew 1-1 with lowly Wycombe in the last two matches. Villa has not won a Premier League game since the first round of the season! They won just twice in all competitions, plus an extra time win, but that first round win over Bournemouth remains the only one against Premier League opposition.
Crystal Palace (7th place) played some great football this season under Alan Pardew, validating the investments made in the summer. The visitors however got into a slump lately, winning just 2 points in the last 3 Premier League matches, without scoring a single goal! Last round they lost 3-0 at Chelsea, so they really need to get back on track quickly. Fortunately for Palace, they put on a much improved display in their last match, beating Southampton 2-1 over the weekend in an FA Cup road game, so it seems that Pardew’s side has regained its form.

Team news & lineups:
Traore, Sanchez, Amavi and Hutton are definitely out for Villa, while Grealish and Agbonlahor will probably miss the game as well. Crystal Palace gets back Cabaye after suspension, but will miss Bolasie and Appiah. Wickham and Gayle are doubtful.
Aston Villa: Guzan – Richards, Okore, Lescott, Cissokho – Gueye, Veretout, Gil, Sinclair – Gestede, J. Ayew
Crystal Palace: Hennessey – Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare – McArthur, Jedinak, Cabaye, Puncheon- Zaha – Sako
Coming after an inspiring, confidence building win in the FA Cup, Crystal Palace should have more than enough to secure the 3 points at Villa Park, particularly when you look at Palace’s excellent 5-2-2 away record, the third best in the league. With a good health status and against an opponent in total disarray, Crystal Palace surely has the arguments to claim victory.
My tip on this encounter is Crystal Palace to win with a +0 asian handicap – which looks like a pretty safe bet considering Aston Villa has not won in the last 19 Premier League games, not won a single game at home and barely won twice all season in all competitions. So, at the very least, you would think that Palace, who is so well organized and strong defensively, will not lose – thus, I think maximum stakes are warranted. But there is every reason to believe that Palace will find a way to win. Prediction: Aston Villa – Crystal Palace 1-2.
Pick: Crystal Palace (+0 Asian Handicap)

Mr Rostick,
Good story and should be a winning bet in my eyes as wel.
I was wondering how you think about the odds of West Ham today against bourmouth.
I think odds of 4,0 are very attractive, because normally WH has more quality, WH is a team that likes to play away from home because of their great counterskills.
Beside those facts bourmouth has been pretty lucky lately and luck never lasts for to long.
Of course there is always a risk, but the better team with odds of 4 looks like a valueable bet to me..
like to hear your vision on this one
Hey mate,
I agree that 4.00 has some value and Bournemouth is overrated after some lucky results lately. Still, they will not be easy to defeat at home. But, as you said, at odds 4.00 it’s worth a shot.
Maybe a DNB West Ham at odds 2.80-2.90 is a better choice, because I feel the draw has serious chances to happen and the odds are still good.
Cheers!
