Aston Villa – Swansea

Aston Villa Swansea Premier League tips

Two struggling sides in the form of Aston Villa and Swansea will square off at Villa Park, with points a necessity for both clubs.

Villa is in a critical situation right now. The only bright light for the hosts in the last two months or so was beating rivals Birmingham 1-0 in the Cup, but they lost 5 games on the spin in Premier League and have not won a match since the first round, against Bournemouth! Last time out, Villa lost 2-0 at Chelsea. Manager Tim Sherwood is under big pressure to deliver and he absolutely needs to get something out of this game.

Swansea has not won in the last 6 matches, losing 4 times in the process. I was the impression that the Welsh side is improving after a 2-2 home draw with Tottenham, but watching them against Stoke on Monday, I could see that is not the case. Swansea lost at home to Stoke, 0-1 and the level of football was really poor from the Swans. They fell behind early but had no real goalscoring chances over the 90 minutes and could have actually conceded more goals.

Team news & lineups:

Aston Villa has a bunch of injury doubts, none of them certain: Gardner, Agbonlahor, Okore, Clark and Ilori. Swansea has a clean bill of health and Gary Monk can field his best lineup.

Aston Villa: Guzan – Hutton, Richards, Lescott, Amavi – Gueye, Westwood, Gil – Grealish, Sinclair, Gestede

Swansea City: Fabianski – Rangel, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor – Cork, Shelvey – Sigurdsson, Ayew, Montero – Gomis

The Head 2 Head statistic tells us that Aston Villa did not defeat Swansea in the last 5 matches played between the two sides – what`s more, Swansea won the last three direct matches.

Looking at Villa’s form and at the Head 2 Head results, one might believe that Swansea is a massive favorite here, but I disagree. Having watched Swansea play, they are far from being solid and it will be very difficult playing on the road against a desperate team. Look for Villa to put on a lot of fight and I believe they will get a draw here – something Swansea would not mind. Neither side has played many one sided matches recently, all were close, so a tied result seems probable. However, I would not be shocked if Villa manages to finally find a victory (though it is difficult to see that right now).

My tip is a Draw on the Aston Villa no bet market (we win with a draw, void bet if Villa wins), the odds are great and I reckon that a motivated Aston Villa will make them worth it. Prediction: Aston Villa – Swansea City 1-1.
