Bayern – Real

Bayern Munchen Real Madrid betting preview 29 AprilReal Madrid holds a narrow 1-0 advantage coming into this Champions League semifinal 2nd leg against Bayern in Munich, but the Bavarians are the odds-on favorites today and will surely be confident they stand a solid chance of booking the qualification to the last act.

Bayern was a little bit disappointing in the first leg. Despite having a couple of big chances, they deserved to lose and they could have easily received a second goal as well. As a personal interpretation I blame Guardiola’s tactics. Bayern was playing their usual style holding the ball with the center-backs at half-court, but everytime Real made an interception it was big panic on counters for the Bavarians. The Spaniards were creating havoc with their speed and flair running the field. A similar approach today by the Germans might produce the same outcome if Bayern does not score early.

The hosts had a huge dip in form after mathematically winning the Bundesliga title: they barely qualified against United in the CL quarters and they got just 1 point in 3 league games, including a 3-0 home drubbing by Borussia Dortmund. However, Bayern seemed to have recovered lately and is on the back of a convincing 5-2 win against Werder Bremen. Still, their defense was again shattered.

Real Madrid is playing arguably the best football in Europe at the moment. They won 8 of the last 9 games, the only defeat coming at the hands of Dortmund 5 matches ago, 0-2, the only time Real failed to score since a 0-0 draw with Xativa in the Cup on 7 December! In the last 4 outings, Real Madrid defeated Barcelona and Bayern and routed Almeria and Osasuna (last round) with the same 4-0 scoreline. Los Blancos will have Ronaldo healthy for this game which is a huge plus, since in the first leg he wasn`t really totally fit.

Team news & lineups

Starke, Alcantara, Shaqiri and Badstuber will miss the game for Bayern. Real Madrid won`t be able to count on Arbeloa, Jese and Khedira. Bale is questionable but he should start, while Marcelo might be left on the bench to make way for Coentrao.

Bayern Munich: Neuer – Lahm, Dante, Boateng, Alaba – Schweinsteiger, Martinez – Gotze, Ribery, Robben – Mandzukic

Real Madrid: Casillas – Carvajal, Ramos, Pepe, Coentrao – Alonso, Modric, Isco – Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale

I can’t see Bayern qualifying here, not the way they played defense lately and especially in the first leg. In-form Real Madrid should be able to score at least once here on counters with Ronaldo and Bale both fit and if that happens, Bayern will have a mountain to climb. The Munich side might edge a close victory (though I doubt it), but Real to qualify is the bet to place here. My tip is Real Madrid to qualify to the final. I was hoping for better odds but to be fair, they are as they should be right now. Prediction: Bayern Munchen – Real Madrid 2-2.
