In this first round encounter from the Wimbledon tournament we have Vitalia Diatchenko from Russia playing against Anna-Lena Friedsam from Germany.
This will be the first encounter between these two players.
Friedsam had a very good tournament last week at the Ilkley ITF where she actually managed to win it. She had a good offensive game and I believe she can easily win this encounter. Diatchenko is a very young playe, and enve though she is talented I think the emotions of being in the main draw of such a huge tournament could end up effecting her somehow.
Also it might be important to mention that Diatchenko did retire do to and injury from her last match which took place two weeks ago so I am not sure if she is fully recovered.
As a conclusion I think Friedsam has regained some confidence with her recent win and along with the fact that she does have a bit more experience at this level she should be able to take the win today.
