This is a qualif. match from the Stuttgart WTA tournament between Katharina Hobgarski from Germany and Evgeniya Rodina from Russia.
They have never faced each other before.
I am going with Hobgarski here because after the incredible way she performed in her first match I have a lot of confidence in her abilities. She completely demolished Patricia Mayr 6-2, 6-0 in her first qualif. match here and considering that Mayr is a pretty decent clay court player this win means even more. She was very solid on her service and her ground strokes are very powerful. I think she need a little more work on her backhand but other than that she played incredibly well and I think she is very motivated to at least advance to the main draw of this home country tournament.
Rodina played against Krejcikova in the first qualif. match and defeated her 6-4, 6-2.She started the match very slow and was behind 3-0 in the first set but eventually recovered and won that set and the match. Even so she didn't look as sharp as usual and made some easy unforced errors in that match.
It might seem a bit crazy and it is a risky bet but Hobgarski played very high level tennis in her first match and I have to believe that she can produce that same thing in this one. If she does that I have a very strong felling she will win this match and for that reason I am going with my guts and backing her today.
