Burnley – Hull City

Burnley Hull City Premier League oddsBurnley will take on Hull City today, knowing that another defeat will bring them that much closer to relegation.

The hosts have been nowhere near Premier League level so far – they are on the last place in the standings with just 4 points in 10 matches (5 points away from safety), they have scored just 4 goals and are the only team without a single win, every other side having at least two victories to their name. You might have expected Burnley to struggle at first and get into rhythm as the season progresses, but that does not look to be the case, they are playing worse and worse, they have an absolutely one dimensional and linear gameplan, easy to break down – especially as there`s a lack of quality as well. Burnley has lost the last 3 matches with a 9-2 goal difference and last round they lost 3-0 at Arsenal. They did held the Gunners scoreless for 1 hour, but it was just desperate bus parking from Burnley from start to finish.

Hull is not in great shape either if you are looking solely at results, they are winless in the last three matches and were defeated 1-0 by Southampton last round, but you have to consider the teams Hull faced – besides Southampton, they played Arsenal and Liverpool on the road, getting draws against both sides. Overall I reckon Hull can do better than the 14th place they are currently sitting on, the visitors made some big investments in the summer, they have a good team and good potential. It`s worth mentioning that they lost just once on the road this season.

Team news & lineups

Taylor and Vokes are the only missing players for the home side. Hull City will have to do without Snodgrass, Dawson, Bruce, Harper, Jelavic and McGregor.

Burnley: Heaton – Trippier, Duff, Shackell, Mee – Boyd, Arfield, Jones, Marney – Ings, Jutkiewicz.

Hull: Jakupovic – Chester, McShane, Davies – Elmohamady, Huddlestone, Diamé, Livermore, Robertson – Ben Arfa – Hernández.

Honestly I`m struggling to understand how can anybody see Burnley as a favorite against a Premier League side right now, even at home – especially since Hull are not exactly relegation battlers, they are a decent mid table team. I don’t have anything good to say about the hosts, their offense is non existent, their defense conceded 3 goals in each of the last 3 games (keeper Heaton had a magnificent game vs. Arsenal and Burnley lost 3-0, that says a lot). I expect Hull to come out strong after the very, very tough last 3 matches and if they don’t blow their scoring chances, they should win this.

The bookies opened with odds of 2.75 for Burnley and they knew what they were doing, the current 2.45 price is too low to be justified. My tip is Hull to win, but I`ll cover the pick with a +0 asian handicap. Prediction: Burnley – Hull City 0-1.

Pick: Hull City (+0 Asian Handicap)
