Burnley – Tottenham

Harry Kane Tottenham hattrickBurnley takes on Tottenham at Turf Moor in a key Premier League clash for both sides.

One might say that you never know with this Burnley side, seeing how they defeated Manchester City two rounds ago only to be shut down by Southampton next week. However, you generally do know – there`s a reason they are 19th in the table. Burnley has 7 losses, 2 draws and 1 win in the last 10 matches – scoring just one goal in the last 4 outings. The praise they get right now is not fully justified, you can`t judge them only on that lucky win against Man City and apart from that they have been utterly futile. Burnley did have a tough schedule lately, but it`s not getting easier with Tottenham and Arsenal coming to town next.

A Top 4 place is starting to really slip away from Tottenham. They can go within 6 points of United if they win today, but if they don’t, it`s pretty much goodbye. Needless to say this is a crucial game for Spurs as, at the worst case, they also need to at least protect an Europa League spot. Visitors are in pretty good form, winning 3 of the last 4, but the last away game was that dreadful 0-3 against Manchester United. It was followed by a 4-3 win over Leicester, another disappointing performance in defense, but excellent up front, with the amazing Harry Kane banging in a hattrick.

Team news & lineups:

Long, Marney and probably Taylor will miss out for the hosts. Tottenham won`t be able to count on Lloris and possibly Soldado.

Burnley: Heaton – Trippier, Shackell, Duff, Mee – Boyd, Arfield, Jones, Barnes – Vokes, Ings

Tottenham: Vorm – Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Davies – Bentaleb, Mason – Chadli, Eriksen, Townsend – Kane

The Spurs have been playing really well in 2015 and the last two shaky performances should only give them extra focus coming into this key clash. I really expect Pochettino’s side to step it up defensively and it should not be too hard to do that against the worst offensive team in the league. Bunrley will surely give it their all, they really need the points, but their short squad is starting to feel the effects of the long season and they might be tired, despite the one week International Break – they simply played too many matches against top opposition lately.

Tn the end Spurs, with a healthy lineup, should have too much for Burnley. The odds on a Tottenham win are great, so it`s affordable to take a little extra-security and tip them to win with a 0,25 asian handicap. Prediction: Burnley – Tottenham 0-2.

Pick: Tottenham (-0,25 Asian Handicap)
